I wish we could have caught their reactions on video when we told them we were pregnant! Dad shattered his favourite tea pot he was so shocked. They were very supportive of the whole thing- and dare I say excited in dad’s case. They were there for the first ultrasound, dad hosted the baby shower for Kat and they were the first ones at the hospital once Kat went into labour. Dad knitted so many baby booties I think we have a different pair for the girls to wear every day of the year. 

Then there comes the babysitting… You know, you never know how things are going to go until you really leave them alone to get to know each other. Katyusha and I thought there would be some issues when it came to my parents and the girls. Dad’s rather strict and Papa hasn’t had to deal with babies for a long time. Our worries were completely unfounded as we’ve discovered. I think Dad really likes having them around. He loves to play and read with them, and spoil them rotten when he thinks nobody’s watching. Papa hasn’t minded at all, in fact he’s even mentioned to me that he’s glad to have the girls around because it keeps dad young. 

The girls on the other hand were a bit tentative at first. I think dad freaked them out a bit with his eyebrows but once they got past that they’ve adored him ever since. Papa cheated by giving them sweets.
